the Unicorns. Unfortunately, the Train Wrecks lost their outdoor game this past Sunday to the tune of a hard fought 2-1 scoreline. Our lone goal came courtesy of Wendy on fine run and strike from a very difficult angle.
Adding to the shutout for this weeks Soccer Emmy's, the Train Wrecks were handed a 7-10 defeat in the indoor category.
A big welcome to Gustavo, who played with the outdoor team this weekend, a heart-felt goodbye to our young duckling, Anna, who is off to become a Banana Slug, and a happy birthday to Antonia, who is past the banana slug stage and onto whatever animal-phase describes full blown adulthood. What is that anyway?
And Janine, thanks for the feast. The only thing missing was a jousting competition.

I'm on the road over on the east coast. I have some pictures from the outdoor game that I'll try to post when I get back later this week.
People probably missed Jaki's note in response to last weeks event. She's injured, which is why she wasn't able to make the game. Heal up Jaki.
I don't know what animal you become as an adult, but when I am playing soccer, Roar! comes to mind =)...haha
Even though we didn't like the ref, I did thank him for giving No. 18 (the "over-celebrator") a yellow card for flopping / faking / being a jerk. I'd also like to thank Blair for inadvertently tripping him after the second goal and abruptly cutting short his victory yell. I have bruises up and down my left arm from defending that guy!
Is #18 related to Leon?
I would advice everyone to keep their cool around the ref's.BIll was telling me today he gave a guy on Carmen's team a red card after the game was all over.
Thanks for the great feast Janine.
Good luck at school Anna!
I would like to second #8's comments. Great feast Janine. Thank you, and best of luck to Anna in college.
Were we really loosing our cool though? I don't think we were questioning any calls in sort of outlandish way or disrespectful way. I think there's a calm way to handle calls and complaints and still exert control over the game. Last weeks performance was not an example of that.
Bill would never call a game that way.
While the ref last game was not "the best" is there ever a perfect ref? We should get in the habit of only having our captain question calls. It does no good to question the ref's decisions, it only makes them mad and make more bad calls, especially against us.
Expecting a good ref and perfect ref are two different things. We got neither at the last game. I agree it doesn't make sense to aggravate the ref, and we should be better at identifying when a ref is being influenced by personal mood vs. objectivity.
Sunday's display wasn't even close to what I would call respectable.
SHAZAM!
